Potsdam (dpa) - According to the Interior Ministry, the corona vaccination dates this week are secured despite the new restrictions in connection with the Astrazeneca vaccine.

For all under 60-year-olds with an appointment for an initial vaccination with Astrazeneca, the Biontech vaccine will be made available as a replacement at short notice, said Interior Minister Michael Stübgen (CDU) of the German Press Agency in the evening.

Solutions for agreed appointments in the coming week would be clarified tomorrow.

It still applies that there is no right to choose the vaccine.

Brandenburg had suspended the vaccinations with the Astrazeneca vaccine for people under 60 on Tuesday for the time being.

In the evening, the federal and state health ministers then decided that from this Wednesday the preparation should generally only be used for people aged 60 and over.

Under 60-year-olds should be able to continue to be vaccinated with it «at the discretion of the doctor and in the case of an individual risk analysis after careful information.

The background is cases of blood clots (thromboses) in cerebral veins.

Astrazeneca vaccinations only started again in mid-March after a vaccination break of several days and new checks.
