Regensburg (dpa / lby) - Ten months after an attack on a SEK official, the alleged perpetrator has to answer before the regional court in Regensburg.

The public prosecutor's office accuses the 42-year-old of attempted murder, serious arson and serious bodily harm, among other things.

The police officer suffered severe burns to his arms and legs during the operation last June.

According to the judiciary, the process begins on Tuesday (9:00 a.m.).

According to the investigation, the accused had thrown incendiary devices out of the window at night, whereupon witnesses called the police and a special task force (SEK) approached.

Upon entering the man's apartment, a fire trap that the man is said to have made himself exploded.

The police discovered several Molotov cocktails during the search.

The alleged perpetrator, a German, was taken to a psychiatric clinic and three months later to a correctional facility.

The SEK officer had to undergo several operations in a special clinic and was unable to work for a good six months.
