Frankfurt / Main (dpa) - Hendrik Almstadt, largely unknown in the football business, is a candidate for the successor to sports director Fredi Bobic at Eintracht Frankfurt, according to media reports.

“Kicker” and “Bild-Zeitung” wrote this online on Tuesday about the 48-year-old, who is currently the management assistant at AC Milan.

While the "kicker" calls Almstadt as a candidate for the Hessian Bundesliga club, the "image" even calls him a "favorite".

Before AC Milan, Almstadt also worked for Arsenal and Aston Villa.

Former striker Bobic had announced that he would leave Eintracht this summer despite a contract until 2023.

The Eintracht supervisory board does not want to let the functionary go for free and announced that it would only hand over Bobic for a transfer.

It is speculated that he wants to switch to league rivals Hertha BSC.

Sports director Bruno Huebner, whose contract will expire in the summer and will not be extended, will definitely not stay in Frankfurt.
