Berlin (dpa) - For the corona vaccine from Astrazeneca there is a change in the age recommendation of the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko).

The preparation is only expected to be recommended for people over 60 years of age.

This emerges from a draft resolution from Stiko, which is available to the German Press Agency.

The "Augsburger Allgemeine" also reported on it.

According to the draft, based on the current data situation, the Stiko "as a rule" recommends vaccination with Astrazeneca "only for people> 60 years of age".

The use below this age limit “remains possible at the medical discretion and after careful information is given if the individual risk is accepted”, the draft decision goes on to say.

The background to the discussions is cerebral vein thrombosis, which most recently occurred in connection with vaccinations, mainly in women under 55. The draft resolution states: "Although significantly more women were affected, the Stiko restricts its recommendation for both sexes as a precaution."

On Tuesday evening, the federal and state health ministers wanted to advise on how to deal with the Astrazeneca corona vaccine.
