Frankfurt / Mainz (dpa) - IG Metall wants to negotiate on Wednesday with employers in the metal and electrical industry about the regional takeover of the pilot contract from North Rhine-Westphalia.

It's about wage increases for hundreds of thousands of employees in Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse and Saarland.

Talks with the Hessenmetall Association are to begin in a small group in a Mainz hotel from 11 a.m., as the union and Hessenmetall announced on Tuesday.

Then the negotiators Jörg Köhlinger (IG Metall) and Johannes Heger (Hessenmetall) want to speak at around 12.30 p.m.

The degree in North Rhine-Westphalia is a good compromise that one wants to join, said a union spokesman.

"IG Metall Mitte is aiming to take over the pilot degree from North Rhine-Westphalia before Easter."

Hessenmetall had expressed itself similarly.

"We welcome the agreement in the M + E industry in North Rhine-Westphalia as a pandemic-adapted, fair and long-term viable compromise."

IG Metall negotiates for 380,000 industry employees in Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.

There will be separate discussions for the employees in Thuringia.

Recently there had been warning strikes in many companies in the metal and electrical industry.

In North Rhine-Westphalia, IG Metall and employers agreed on a new collective agreement on Tuesday night.

In addition to a corona bonus of 500 euros this year, the agreement provides for permanent special payments from 2022, which can be used in companies with employment problems for financial compensation when working hours are reduced.
