Italy: compulsory 5-day isolation for all travelers from the European Union

To limit the departures and arrivals of tourists in Italy, the authorities have decreed that each traveler coming from a state of the European Union will have to undergo a five-day isolation on arrival.

Health Minister Roberto Speranza is about to sign an ordinance that will come into effect in the coming hours

The government renewed this obligation in a decree dated March 2.

But the Minister of Health has decided to toughen the measures for travelers coming from a country of the European Union.

PCR test to be done before and after departure

All those who return to Italian territory will not only have to have been tested for

Covid-19

48 hours before their arrival.

But they will also have to perform another PCR test at the end of the mandatory 5-day isolation period.

The new decree also provides for the obligation of a test for Italians before their departure to a foreign country.

This measure is clearly aimed at discouraging the departures and arrivals of tourists at the heart of the third wave of the pandemic, which has already claimed more than 108,000 lives in Italy.
