Hanover (dpa / lni) - The price increase in Lower Saxony continued to rise in March.

The level of consumer prices was 1.6 percent above the previous year, as the State Statistical Office announced on Tuesday in Hanover.

This development was particularly marked by a sharp increase in the price of mineral oil products, heating oil and fuels - for example through the introduction of the CO2 tax at the beginning of the year and a price increase on the crude oil market.

Compared to the same month last year, the prices for fuel and lubricants for vehicles rose by 11.9 percent, for light heating oil by as much as 25.7 percent.

The inflation rate was 1.1 percent in February 2021.

Compared to February, the level of consumer prices rose by 0.4 percent in March 2021.
