Kiel (dpa / lno) - Schleswig-Holstein will stop vaccinations for under 60s with the vaccine from Astrazeneca on Wednesday.

This is happening on the occasion of the updated recommendation of the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) on corona vaccination and a resolution of the Conference of Health Ministers on Tuesday, announced the Ministry of Health in Kiel.

People under the age of 60 who already have an appointment for the Astrazeneca vaccine by April 11th could continue to attend.

According to the information, however, they will be vaccinated with the vaccines from Biontech and Moderna.

There will still be no right to vote in vaccines.

How things will go from April 12th is being examined.

Vaccinated persons with an appointment who are 60 years and older can keep their Astrazeneca appointments as planned.

The Ministry of Health wants to provide timely information on how things will continue with upcoming second vaccination appointments, especially for people who are 59 years old and younger and who have already been vaccinated with Astrazeneca.

The federal and state health ministers had previously decided that the Astrazeneca vaccine should generally only be used for people aged 60 and over from Wednesday.

The Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) had recommended a corresponding age limit for Astrazeneca.

The basis is currently available data on the occurrence of “rare but very severe thromboembolic side effects”.

The committee at the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced that the majority of these occurred 4 to 16 days after the vaccination in people under the age of 60.

This concerns abnormalities with cases of blood clots (thromboses) in cerebral veins in temporal relation to vaccinations, which were reported mainly in younger women.
