Munich (dpa / lby) - Bavaria's amateur and recreational footballers hope to return to training and competitions within a month, despite the currently increasing corona numbers.

If that does not succeed, the season, which has already been interrupted, is about to end.

This was announced by the Bavarian Football Association (BFV) on Tuesday after a board conference.

"In order to bring as many or all of the outstanding games of the point rounds to an end, almost unrestricted training is required by May 3, 2021 at the latest," it said.

"If this is not the case, a decision must be made to abort the association rounds."

In the Free State, the 2019/20 amateur season was interrupted last spring and - unlike in other federal states - should be continued and concluded this season.

But now the pandemic threatens to thwart this plan.

If the season had to be broken off, ascents and descents would be decided via a quotient regulation, explained the BFV.

In a four-point plan, the board also rejected a scenario according to which the season can only be played to the end with negative corona tests.

That is not feasible in the area.

There are also indications that the league cup competitions in the lower classes will be canceled this season.

"If no nationwide training with contact in Bavaria is possible from April 19, 2021, the league cup competition will no longer be possible," wrote the BFV.

The Toto Cup, which is also used to determine the participant in the DFB Cup, is not affected by this.

We are still working on scenarios for the Toto Cup.
