Berlin (dpa / lby) - At the Nuremberg motorway junction in the direction of Würzburg, a worker from the motorway maintenance department was hit by a car and died on Monday evening.

The 42-year-old had crossed the lane with a colleague as part of his work on the exit for the A9 when he was hit by a car, the police said.

He was injured so badly that he died at the scene of the accident.

The 45-year-old driver was reportedly taken to hospital in shock.

The colleague of the injured man received pastoral care on site.

The A3 in the direction of Würzburg was blocked until 8.30 p.m. after the accident, and there was a traffic jam.

Among other things, a rescue helicopter was used at the scene of the accident.

In order to be able to reconstruct the course of the accident, the police asks witnesses to the accident for information on 09128 91970.
