Munich (dpa / lby) - A burned wooden spoon triggered a major fire service in Munich.

Several residents of an apartment building in the Laim district were woken up by beeping smoke alarms on Monday night and notified the emergency call, as the fire brigade announced.

Several emergency services went into the house with respiratory protection.

The resident, from whose apartment the fire came, slept soundly according to the information.

In his kitchen, the firefighters found a heavily smoking pot with a burning wooden spoon in it.

The emergency services extinguished both with the tap.

As a fire department spokesman said, it was initially unclear whether the man had forgotten to turn off the stove or whether he had fallen asleep while cooking.

He was unharmed.

After the fire department had removed the smoke with a ventilation device, the man was able to go back to his apartment.
