Last week, North Korea fired two short-range robots in new robot tests.

Few experts were surprised.

However, they were surprised that it had not happened before.

They believe that Kim wants to get the attention of the new US President Joe Biden and remind the UN that trade sanctions hit North Korea hard.

The sanctions were imposed due to North Korea's nuclear weapons program and robot tests.

In a direct question to White House Press Secretary Jen Paski on Monday, a journalist wondered if President Biden will do as Trump did: "Sit down with Kim Jong Un in meetings?"

"I think the approach will be very different and that it is not his (Biden's) intention," Paksi replied, according to the news agency Reuters.

Kim's meetings with Trump

Last week, Joe Biden said that the United States will continue to be open to diplomacy - despite North Korea's robot tests.

But Biden warned at the same time that it will have consequences if North Korea "escalates" the situation.

North Korea responded that the Biden administration has taken the first wrong step and revealed a "deep-rooted hostility" by criticizing robot tests that were self-defense, according to North Korea.

Trump is the first incumbent US president to meet with a North Korean leader.

The first and historic summit took place in Singapore in June 2018.

The second summit took place in Hanoi in February 2019. Expectations were very high.

But the meeting was canceled prematurely and Trump went home.

Trump and Kim met for the third time symbolically at the truce between South and North Korea.

At that time, there were no talks about nuclear weapons.

During Trump's presidency, North Korea has probably more than doubled the number of nuclear weapons, Stockholm's international peace research institute Sipri stated in a report in June 2020.

Swedish diplomacy

They have also met in Sweden between North Korea and the United States because Sweden is a so-called protective force for the United States and a number of other Western countries.

Sweden has established diplomatic relations with North Korea via the Swedish Embassy in Pyongyang.
