Oberkrämer (dpa / bb) - On the motorways 10 and 24, two expanded and modernized sections were opened to traffic on Monday.

On the A10 towards Frankfurt (Oder) it is the piece between Mühlenbeck and Dreieck Pankow, on the A24 towards Berlin it is the section between Neuruppin and Neuruppin-Süd, as announced by the Havellandautobahn GmbH & Co. KG responsible for the work.

The A10 and A24 between the Pankow triangle and the Neuruppin junction are said to be among the busiest routes in the capital region.

They will be expanded and renewed by 2022 while traffic is still running in order to cope with future traffic volumes.

Two months ago, the company announced that almost 70 percent of the total construction work had been completed on the two motorways.

Since construction began, almost 70 of a total of 120 kilometers of carriageway have been built.

In addition, 24 of 38 bridges were built and 10 of 14 junctions were modernized.
