Since 2006, the Swedish Red Cross has awarded prizes for reporting - in the form of a report or special initiative - which last year "increased the understanding of the humanitarian consequences and complexity in today's crises or disasters, in the world as well as in Sweden".

Eight entries have been nominated for the 2021 award.

Among them are SVT's foreign correspondent Samir Abu Eid and photographer Salim Alsabbagh's report on the conflicts in Armenia and in Tigray / Ethiopia.

Middle East correspondent Stina Blomgren and photographers Tilo Gummel and Pablo Torres' report on the explosion in Beirut is also nominated for the award.

The winning entry will be announced later this spring. The prize is a travel scholarship of SEK 30,000.
