China News Service, March 29. According to the Japan Broadcasting Association (NHK), Japan's Narita Airport and Haneda Airport will introduce facial recognition systems from July to handle procedures such as boarding.

According to reports, the system reads passenger facial images, passport photos, and information recorded on boarding passes through check-in terminals equipped with facial recognition technology, and can integrate these information for subsequent processes.

Next, whether it is checked baggage, security check, or boarding gate, passengers only need to face the corresponding lens to perform facial authentication, which can be easily completed.

Data such as facial images collected at the airport will be completely deleted within 24 hours.

The system can reduce human contact, so it helps prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.

Narita Airport Corporation President Akihiko Tamura said at a press conference on March 25: "This measure is also of great significance to welcoming the return of international flights."
