Foreign Minister Motegi will visit the United States late next month to make adjustments to hold talks between the three countries of Japan, the United States and South Korea.

Response to China is expected to be the main agenda, and the focus will be on whether the three countries can unite and develop a strong stance toward China.

Foreign Minister Motegi will visit Washington, USA in late next month prior to the G7 = seven major foreign ministers' meeting in the United Kingdom in early next month, with Secretary of State Blinken and Foreign Minister Jung Wei-young of South Korea. Coordination has begun in the direction of holding a meeting with the foreign ministers of the country.

It will be the first time since the inauguration of the Biden administration that the talks between the foreign ministers of the three countries will be realized.

At the talks, dealing with China is expected to be the main agenda item, but within the Japanese government, South Korea, whose top priority is to improve relations with North Korea, will stimulate China, which is the backing of North Korea. It has been pointed out that Japan may show a cautious stance to avoid it, and it seems that the focus will be on whether the three countries can unite and take a strong stance toward China.

On the other hand, between Japan and South Korea, which are chilling over the comfort women issue, foreign ministers' talks, including telephone talks, have never been held since Foreign Minister Chung took office last month.

With the decision of a trial in which the former comfort women and their bereaved families are seeking damages from the Japanese government on the 21st of next month, the focus will be on whether or not a meeting can be held.
