Jessen (dpa / sa) - A wolf was probably run over by a train on a railway line near Jessen (Wittenberg district).

The dead animal was found on Sunday morning, the federal police announced on Monday.

Employees at the Wolf Competence Center picked up the carcass.

The police could not determine whether and which train caught the animal.

The wolf has been spreading again in Saxony-Anhalt for several years.

The State Hunting Association warned on Monday that the animals were getting closer and closer to humans and demanded to be allowed to shoot wolves in isolated cases.
