According to a statement by the Indonesian National Petroleum Corporation, “about 200 residents were evacuated to the auditorium in the Indramayu district, about 400 people were evacuated to the Nan'anyu Islamic Center, and about 350 people were evacuated to the gymnasium.” The company said in a statement. Russian satellite network quoted the Indonesian national oil company's news and said that at about 0:45 on the 29th local time, some kind of "event" occurred in the refinery, after which the oil storage tank started burning.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, but there was heavy rain and lightning at the time of the incident.
