• The first medical marijuana vending machine in the US

  • Vancouver, the first marijuana distributor

May 17, 2014 It might look like a normal vending machine for drinks or snacks, but there is much more on sale than just an orange soda.

This is the first marijuana dispenser installed in Vancouver, Canada.

To buy one of the many types of cannabis on display, you need a card issued by a doctor who certifies its therapeutic purpose.

In fact, since 1999 the consumption of the substance has been allowed in the country but only for medical purposes.

The machine decorated with green leaves offers small hermetically sealed plastic bags.

For 4 Canadian dollars (2.7 euros) it is possible to buy "Cotton Candy", one of the varieties on display.

For two dollars more the "Viola Kush", or the "Pink Kush".

A 14-gram pack costs $ 50.

Currently only one of these distributors has been installed across Canada, but the BC Pain Society will have more in the capital and the rest of the country.

Similar initiatives have been taken in the United States.

In Colorado, for example, a cannabis dispenser capable of controlling the age of the buyer and prescriptions is about to debut, but will only be available in doctors' surgeries to reduce the risk of theft and errors in doses.
