Berchtesgaden (dpa) - There were surprise winners at the German championships for alpine ski racers at the weekend.

In the men's giant slalom, Frederik Norys (24) from Garmisch won ahead of Jonas Stockinger (21 / Herzogsreut).

Alexander Schmid and Stefan Luitz from Allgäu, experienced in the World Cup, only landed in third and fourth place.

Sebastian Holzmann (28 / Oberstdorf) and Anton Tremmel (26 / Rottach-Egern) both won the slalom on Sunday.

Linus Straßer, who had already celebrated a World Cup victory this winter, only finished fifth in Berchtesgaden.

In the women's category, Emma Aicher (Mahlstetten), who was only 17 years old, left the experienced Lena Dürr behind in the slalom.

Only in the giant slalom did Andrea Filser (Wildsteig) prevail as the favorite.
