Slovakia declares a state of emergency for 45 days

March 28, 2021 Slovak Prime Minister Igor Matovic announced his intention to step down, after strong criticism for the management of the health crisis and especially for the decision to buy doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine without informing the government partners.
However, Matovic said he wanted to remain as finance minister.
The Slovak politician did not specify when he will resign, saying he wants to swap places with the current finance owner, Eduard Heger.
