"At a meeting of the leadership of our party ... I announced that I was ready to leave the post of prime minister and change places with Eduard Heger," RIA Novosti quoted Matovich as saying.

According to him, in this case, Heger will become prime minister, and Matovich himself will take the post of head of the Ministry of Finance.

In turn, the current finance minister said he was ready to head the cabinet.

He clarified that other parties of the ruling coalition have given preliminary consent to such a replacement.

Earlier, the President of Slovakia Zuzana Chaputova called on Matovic to resign to resolve the crisis in the Cabinet.

In early March, the head of the Ministry of Health of Slovakia, Marek Krajci, was dismissed due to disagreements over the purchase of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in the ruling coalition.
