Schwerin (dpa / mv) - According to a study by the health insurance company DAK, women suffer much more psychologically than men from the corona crisis.

"Never before have women in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania had so many days off work due to mental illnesses as in the Corona year 2020," said the head of DAK Health in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Sabine Hansen.

Their number climbed to 306 days of absence per 100 insured persons.

And: According to calculations by the DAK, that was more than twice as many as for men.

Women are on average longer on sick leave due to mental illness than men.

"The aim must be to stop the trend and help those affected with suitable offers and care concepts," demanded Hansen.

This is especially important in times of crisis like the corona pandemic.

DAK-Gesundheit is, according to its own information, the third largest health insurance company in Germany with 5.6 million insured persons, including around 160,000 in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

For the psycho report, the Berlin IGES Institute evaluated data from almost 68,000 insured employees in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
