Jordan decided on Sunday to continue to implement a comprehensive curfew on Friday, and a partial night ban until mid-May as part of measures to combat the Corona pandemic in light of the high number of infections, while Russian President Vladimir Putin expected his country to reach the stage of herd immunity by the end of next summer.

The Jordanian government's decision means that the curfew will continue even after the end of the blessed month of Ramadan, which begins on April 13th and ends on May 12, according to astronomical calculations.

In a press conference, government spokesman Sakhr Dudin said that the Kingdom has reached alarming levels in terms of the epidemiological situation, as the health authorities recorded 7,183 new daily infections with the virus, 82 deaths, in addition to 9,417 recoveries.

This brings the total number of injuries in the Kingdom to 589,316 cases, including 6,554 deaths, and 485,507 cases of recovery.

On March 10, the government decided to impose a comprehensive and total curfew on Fridays with the suspension of Friday prayers, and it also decided at the time to expand the partial curfew for the rest of the week.

Immunization in Iraq

In Iraq, the authorities began yesterday to vaccinate citizens with the British AstraZeneca vaccine after obtaining a shipment of 336,000 doses as part of the Covax initiative led by the World Health Organization, along with other international organizations for the benefit of poor and middle countries.

Health Minister Hassan Al-Tamimi said that the first batch of the vaccine will be distributed to all governorates, including the Kurdistan region, and it is part of a program to distribute 16 million doses to Iraqis.

Iraq obtained the first doses of "Covid-19" vaccines, and it was 50,000 doses of the Chinese company Sinovac vaccine, and the doses arrived on the second of March, a donation from China, but Iraq is facing difficulties in meeting the great demand for vaccines.

The health authorities have recorded 827,157 cases of the virus, and 14,177 deaths to date.

Putin: 4.3 million out of 144 million Russians who received the anti-virus vaccine with his (European) doses

Herd immunity

In Russia, President Vladimir Putin said today that he expects his country to reach the stage of herd immunity (herd immunity) from the emerging corona virus, and to lift the restrictions associated with controlling the outbreak by the end of the summer.

The term herd immunity, or community immunity, refers to a situation in which the number of people immunized against infection in a given community is sufficient to stop the spread of disease.

Russia began the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 last December, and Putin said last Monday that 4.3 million out of 144 million Russians had already received the vaccine with his two doses, and the country had recorded more than 4.5 million cases of the virus so far.

President's health

In a related context, Interfax news agency reported today - quoting from televised statements - to the Russian president that he felt minor side effects after receiving a vaccine against Covid-19 last Tuesday.

"I woke up the next day to receive the vaccine, and it seemed to me that I felt a slight muscle pain. I measured the temperature and it was normal," Putin, 68, told Channel One of state television, adding that he felt uncomfortable at the site of the vaccine injection.

He did not explain any of the three Russian vaccinations he received, saying that the doctor who injected him is the only one who knows this, and it is related to the vaccines "Sputnik V, Ibavacuruna, Kovivac."

It is noteworthy that the Corona virus pandemic has so far caused the death of more than two million and 777 thousand people in the countries of the world, since the disease was officially registered in China at the end of December 2019, and more than 126 thousand people have been infected in the world.
