Munich (dpa / lby) - In a first balance sheet on the volume of travel before Easter in Bavaria, the ADAC found significantly less traffic than in previous years and almost free motorways.

Due to the "unclear situation and the corona restrictions", trips and visits on the first weekend of the Easter holidays were largely canceled, an ADAC spokeswoman said on Sunday.

However, the ADAC expects an increased volume of traffic over the holidays in the Bavarian local recreation areas.

It is therefore recommended that day trippers inform themselves in advance.

In the event of overcrowding, it is to be expected that the police will close parking spaces and turn away visitors.

Bavaria's Minister of Health, Klaus Holetschek, had previously appealed to citizens not to go on vacation at the moment.

"The virus knows no national borders and no Easter holidays," said the CSU politician.
