Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Baden-Württemberg's Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann does not want to allow any more delays with the Corona emergency brake in hotspot regions.

«That is strictly enforced.

There is no longer any mistake, ”said the Green Prime Minister on Saturday to the dpa news agency in Stuttgart.

According to reports, there is growing anger in the state government with urban and rural districts that initially do not apply the emergency brake systematically, although they have exceeded the limit of 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in one week for more than 3 days.

For example, Stuttgart had declared that it would wait for the new Corona regulation and only want to pull the emergency brake on Tuesday at the earliest.

Then, for example, shops and museums would have to be closed again.

The state capital has been above the incidence of 100 since Wednesday.

Kretschmann emphasized that the emergency brake was “a sharp instrument, especially with us because we do it with exit restrictions”.

If the seven-day incidence exceeds 100 on three consecutive days, the Ministry of Health should instruct the district administrators concerned to implement rules such as exit restrictions from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

However, the state government had already announced on Friday that there would be an exception to the contact restrictions over Easter.

Meetings of 2 households with up to 5 people should also be allowed in areas with more than 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the coming days.

Children up to 14 years are not counted.

Stricter rules apply to high-incidence regions such as Schwäbisch Hall.

The Schwäbisch Hall district still has by far the highest number of cases with an incidence of 438.1 (as of Friday).

The number of corona infections and the seven-day incidence in Baden-Württemberg continue to rise rapidly.

The incidence value rose from 115.3 to 121.2.

Four urban and rural districts are currently above the 200 mark, and another 26 are above 100.

Kretschmann said: "It's going badly."

It was considered to enact nationwide rules again and not leave it to the districts to enforce them - but this was rejected again for reasons of proportionality.

"There is always a line we walk on and we have to hope that we don't fall."

The head of government announced that in addition to Tübingen, he wanted to allow further model projects for easing with the help of intensified tests - but not so quickly.

"Yes, let's take a look at that."

Looking at the increasing number of infections, he said: "But everyone can see that now is not the best time."

You have to wait a little longer until the first scientific results from Tübingen are available.

Basically, that is his line: "Be very hard, but where you can be free, you can also relax."

He will continue to orientate himself on the contagion numbers.

"But we combine it with testing and vaccination."

And then you can “open up individual areas with low risk”.
