Instigating attacks on Asians, French suspects are tried, if convicted, sentenced to up to 7 years in prison

[Global Times Special Correspondent in France Zhao Fengying] France United Radio said on the 25th that the Paris Misdemeanor Court opened a trial on the 24th to try the suspects who instigated attacks on Asians on social media in October last year.

The defendants are five college students with no previous convictions.

The case is expected to be judged on the evening of the 26th local time.

Three other minor defendants will be tried in another case.

On October 29 last year, France once again implemented anti-epidemic measures.

Many people tweeted that night, encouraging attacks on the Chinese.

One suspect declared: "I hate China, and Chinese bastards must be removed from the map. All viruses come from this dirty country."

Organizations such as the French Chinese Youth Association, the French Human Rights League, and the French Anti-Race Discrimination Association gathered outside the court on the 25th to protest against racial discrimination and attacks against Asians, and called on the court to make a fair judgment.

Li Qinglan, the former president of the French Chinese Lawyers Association, who attended the court hearing, stated that the prosecutors prosecuted the five suspects for "publicly insulting and discriminating against an ethnic group" and "calling others to attack Asians."

If convicted, they may be sentenced to imprisonment ranging from 1, 5 or 7 years and fined.

The Chinese representatives pointed out in the court that the words and deeds of the five people insulted and hurt the Chinese and Chinese in France, and also planted the roots of the disaster, put the Chinese in danger, and demanded civil compensation for the victims.

The "Safety Committee for Everyone" composed of multiple Asian associations stated that after the above-mentioned tweet was published, Asians were subjected to a series of attacks.

Chen Wenxiong, a Chinese congressman from the Kadima Party of the Republic, believes that this is a "historical" trial.

Sun Wenxiong, chairman of the French Asian League, said that Asian groups stand up against racial discrimination as progress.

We can no longer be lambs to be slaughtered.

Only by uniting can we fight for legitimate rights and interests in accordance with the law.
