Scharbeutz (dpa) - Nobody knows yet how many tourists will be allowed to come to Schleswig-Holstein this summer.

In order to avoid crowds on the beaches like in the Corona summer, the places on the Bay of Lübeck have agreed on a tourism code.

This should avoid going it alone in the interests of tourism in the region, said the managing director of Ostsee-Holstein-Tourismus (OHT), Katja Lauritzen.

In the past year, vacationers and day-trippers, especially in Timmendorfer Strand and Scharbeutz on the Bay of Lübeck, caused some chaos.

Day visitors are an important economic factor for vacation spots.

According to Lauritzen, a study by the German Economic Institute for Tourism (dwif) on behalf of Baltic Sea Holstein Tourism showed that around 58.5 million day visitors to the Baltic Sea coast of Schleswig-Holstein for a gross turnover of more than 1.7 billion in 2019 Euros have taken care of.
