Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Sun, thunderstorms, sleet showers, snow: Saxony-Anhalt experienced pretty much every weather there is on Saturday.

Between short breaks in the sun there were heavy showers that came down as snow in the Harz, as Peter Zedler from the German Weather Service (DWD) said on Saturday.

There were also thunderstorms near Bitterfeld, Seehausen and Oschersleben.

There were also gusts of wind with wind speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour, up to 115 on the Brocken.

The showers should go away in the evening, said the DWD meteorologist.

The cleared starry sky will cause ground frost in many places.

On Sunday, the DWD expects temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees Celsius and a few showers.

But then rain and wind would only move "with the handbrake on" over Saxony-Anhalt, said Zedler.

In the coming week, the meteorologists expect significantly higher temperatures: A high pressure area would bring dry and warm weather, said Zedler.

On Tuesday, temperatures could rise nationwide to 20 to 23 degrees.
