Düren / Berlin (dpa) - For the tenth time in a row, the Berlin Volleys are in the final of the German volleyball championship.

In the decisive third game of the playoff semifinals, coach Cedric Enard's team prevailed 3-1 (27:25, 25:21, 22:25, 27:25) at the SWD powervolleys in Düren on Saturday.

The capital city club thus ended the series Best of three with 2-1 victories.

In the final, Berlin will meet VfB Friedrichshafen.

The first of a maximum of five games is expected to take place on April 8th at Lake Constance.

The volleys only took the lead twice in Düren, first at 8: 7 by Benjamin Patch and then after defending three set balls from Düren again at 26:25 by a block by Sergej Grankin.

Then the guests used their first set ball.

In the meantime, the Dürener had already pulled away with five points (16:11).

The self-confidence of the Berliners increased.

When Patch scored the 17:15 after a perfect overhead pass from Grankin, the basis for winning the second set was laid, especially since two service aces from Samuel Tuia and Eder Carbonera in the final phase finally threw the opponent out of step.

In the third section, the guests stumbled after a 12: 8 lead through a 0: 5 point series.

Although they came very close to the decision about the final at 21:20, Düren fought doggedly and made the connection.

The Berlin team lost another comfortable lead in set four.

They were in front at 16:11, later again at 23:21.

Only with the third match point, transformed by Cody Kessel, did the volleys finally end the game.
