Why did Disney win?

The movie "Raya and the Last Dragon" is not the only animation shown on the screens at the present time, there is also the movie "Tom and Jerry" that bets on "nostalgia" and the audience's yearning for an outpouring of nostalgia and glimpses of the past.

There is also the movie "The Croods: A New Age", which is the second part of the movie "The Croods", which achieved overwhelming commercial and artistic success in its first part.

The question becomes, why did Disney win and succeed in its film in attracting the vast majority of the movie audience?

A movie for the whole family

The first reason is that although the work belongs to the category of animation and fantasy, but it is suitable for all ages, just as children will enjoy it, adults will be attracted to it as well, especially since its plot deals with a mythical story that combines adventure, movement and exciting martial arts, and most importantly, it is inspiring and historical, which helped Work to carry with it many elements of success.

cultural diversity

The story of the work taking place in Southeast Asia helped to reflect the diversity of cultures and identities in the countries there, as we witnessed national and commercial competition between them, different food habits, and architectural style.

This, as a Filipino / # SEA food and eating together is such an INTEGRAL aspect, that if this scene wasn't here, #RayaAndTheLastDragon would be incomplete.

This diversity and the difference of countries that were part of the plot contributed to attracting a multi-sector of the audience, and that the work was exquisite at the visual level, as we witnessed vast areas and a variety of picturesque natural features, between green forests, vast deserts and fertile pastures.

originality

The makers of the work best chose the stars to whom the voice performance was assigned, most of them came from Asian Americans, such as Kelly Marie Tran and Okwafina, Isaac Wang, Jimma Chan, Daniel Dae Kim, Bondedict Wong, and Sandra Oh.

For his part, Disney Studios in the Philippines announced the production of the first Disney song in the Filipino language to become part of the film's soundtrack, which in turn made the work more local and credible.

Critical appraisal

For all of the above, it was natural for the film to receive the approval of critics who gave it a high positive evaluation, praising many of its advantages, on top of which are animation, sound performance and attention to detail, as well as the ability to mix adventure and comedy, which made the work vibrant.

They also expressed their admiration for the work message, stressing that it came a step forward and developed the path of certain Disney stories such as "Mulan" and "Moana" and the similar plots of their heroines, women who are not afraid of the unknown.

Although this does not prevent the existence of some negative shortcomings on the work, perhaps the most obvious - and on which the audience and critics have agreed - the acceleration of events too much, which made viewers feel that they were not sufficiently saturated with the feelings imposed on them by the events.

Some also reproached the work's repetitive plot and the ease of predicting its course of events, which was defended by others, asserting that the story bore several surprises, and even presented the character of the "dragon" in a wonderful way that exceeded any previous expectations.

Teamwork makes the dream work.

An interesting saga worth watching

"Raya and the Last Dragon" is an epic film written by Adele Lim, and directed by Don Halle and Carlos Lopez Estrada.

Its events begin very long ago, in an imaginary world named "Commandra" inspired by the cultures of Southeast Asia, where humans and dragons used to live together in peace and stability.

Until the area was attacked by evil mythical creatures, everyone standing in their way turned to stone, so the dragons only united together and sacrificed themselves to save the world, contrary to the usual stereotype of dragons obsessed with burning and killing.

As for human beings, after they had escaped the evil that had befallen them, they were divided among themselves, and severe enmities arose among them that separated them.

After 500 years, however, hope finds its way into the heart of a leader, who seeks to reunite and rebuild the bridge of trust between all.

So does what he aspires to happen, or does the gap widen?

You will have to watch the work to find out what happened for yourselves, and enjoy it with the company of your families.
