Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - A murder trial against two 21 and 22-year-old men begins on April 12 in front of the Magdeburg Regional Court.

According to the court, in October last year in Osterweddingen (Börde) they were said to have hit a 58-year-old man so severely that he died.

Before the crime, the 58-year-old man is said to have heard noises in a parking lot shortly after midnight.

He watched several people damage a car.

The 58-year-old went to the car and was then massively injured, according to witnesses.

He died on the scene.

According to the court, the two suspected men do not comment on the crime and are now in custody.

Since one of the accused was still 20 years old at the time of the offense and is therefore considered an adolescent according to the Juvenile Court Act, the trial will take place before the juvenile criminal chamber, according to the court.

For adolescents, the law provides for either juvenile criminal law or adult criminal law, depending on their level of development.

If the accused are convicted of murder under adult criminal law, they will face life imprisonment.

The maximum youth penalty for adolescents is 10 years.

In the case of murder, a sentence of up to 15 years can be imposed.
