Munich (dpa / lby) - she would like to do something with space travel later - for her work on a moon base, the 17-year-old Lena Kahle from the Starnberg district received a special prize on Friday at the award ceremony of the state competition “Jugend forscht”.

The student at Otto von Taube High School in Gauting analyzed a life support system and its variations for a manned mission to the moon.

What the student found most interesting was the complexity of the system.

The high school student, who has already met the German astronaut Alexander Gerst, would later prefer to study at the International Space University in Strasbourg.

Your work was awarded the special prize of the Bavarian State Minister for Education and Culture as the best interdisciplinary project.

As one of eleven state winners, Lena Kahle will take part in the virtual federal final in May to represent Bavaria.

This year, the award-winning young researchers dealt with a system to prevent hay fires, the coronavirus, new materials for the world of work, the detection of microplastics in alpine lakes and a blind guide system with artificial intelligence.

For the first time in the history of “Jugend forscht” Bayern, the entire event and the award ceremony took place digitally.
