The General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions, dependent on the Ministry of the Interior, announced this Friday the approach of six other ETA prisoners to prisons closer to the Basque Country, among them the historic ETA members Henri Parot Navarro and José María Dorronsoro, who are currently in Puerto III-Cádiz and they will go to León and Pamplona, respectively.

Henri Parot is an ETA prisoner over 60 years old who is serving a sentence for terrorist crimes for dozens of attacks with 39 fatalities.

He was part of the 'Argala' itinerant command and was arrested in April 1990 while transporting a van loaded with 300 kilos of explosives.

Of French origin, it was one of the main objectives of the State Security Forces and Corps.

This is the ETA member who promoted the so-called 'Parot doctrine', established by the Supreme Court in 2006 and which determined that the prison benefits were applied individually to each of the penalties for which they had been convicted, and not to the maximum limit of stay in prison of 30 years.

According to Prisons, Henri Parot entered prison on April 7, 1990 and is serving a cumulative sentence of 41 years for the crimes of murders, attacks, havoc, injuries and terrorism.

He served all three parts of the sentence in February 2020 and "accepts the legality of the prison."

The General Secretariat has arranged his progression to second degree and transfer to the León prison.

Dorronsoro, who is about 80 years old, will serve three-quarters of his sentence in July 2023. He entered prison on January 11, 2001 and is serving a cumulative 30-year sentence for the crimes of attack and injury.

"He accepts the legality of the penitentiary and has sent a letter in which he rejects the violence and is sensitive to the damage caused," according to Prisons.
