El-Sisi: Egypt fully supports the new executive authority

The foreign ministers of Germany, France and Italy stress the need to support the Libyan unity government

The foreign ministers of Libya, Germany, France and Italy, Naglaa Al-Manqoush, Heiko Maas, Jean-Yves Le Drian and Luigi Di Maio, stressed the need to support the Libyan national unity government and end the roadmap and the Berlin conference.

In a joint press conference held in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, the ministers stressed the necessity and importance of foreign forces leaving the Libyan lands, and opening the road between the east and the west of Libya, in order to reach the largest entitlement in Libya, which is the parliamentary and presidential elections scheduled to take place next December.

This came as part of a visit by the foreign ministers of Germany, France and Italy to Tripoli, where they were received at Maitika Airport, the Libyan Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity, Najla Al-Manqoush.

"In our discussions with our Libyan friends, we sent a message that we support the national unity government for a democratic transition," Le Drian said at the press conference.

He stressed the necessity of implementing the ceasefire agreement on the ground, as well as opening the coastal road, which gives priority to the withdrawal of all foreign forces in Libya until Libya regains its unity and sovereignty.

For his part, Maas said, "We wanted to prove that we are determined to stand by the Libyan unity government."

In turn, the Italian foreign minister said: “We are witnessing in our presence the support of the European Union to support the path of stability in Libya, and we are ready to cooperate with the unity government.

He stressed the need for a ceasefire and the exit of all foreign forces from Libya.

In Cairo, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi confirmed yesterday his country's full and absolute support for the new executive authority in Libya in all fields, and all bilateral, regional and international forums for its success in managing the current historical stage, and to reach the holding of national elections at the end of this year.

This came during the Egyptian President's meeting yesterday with the head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Muhammad Al-Manfi.

Al-Sisi stressed the stability of the Egyptian position aimed at achieving the supreme interest of the Libyan state in the first place, which stems from the principles of preserving the integrity of the Libyan territories, restoring security and stability, and the exit of all mercenaries and foreign fighters from Libya.

He added that Egypt is fully prepared to present its expertise to the Libyan government in various fields.
