Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said that there is currently no initiative on the table to bring Iran and the United States together in Doha, to start negotiations between them on the Iranian nuclear deal.

At the conclusion of his visit to Iraq, the Qatari Foreign Minister said that his country believes that the countries of the region have no interest in the continuing tension between Washington and Tehran.

The Qatari minister affirmed that Doha is in continuous dialogue with Iran in order to create a positive environment, whether to return to the nuclear agreement between Washington and Tehran or to start a regional dialogue between all countries in the region to end the tension.

He added that there is a positive response from Iran towards the regional dialogue, but the issue of returning to negotiations on the nuclear agreement is still not ready.

The Qatari foreign minister held a series of talks in Baghdad and Erbil on Wednesday, which dealt with bilateral cooperation and regional issues.

During his visit, he delivered two letters from the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to the Iraqi President Barham Salih and the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Nechirvan Barzani, containing an official invitation to visit Doha.
