Berlin (dpa / bb) - The opposition in the Berlin House of Representatives has sharply criticized the actions of the Senate in the corona pandemic.

In the parliamentary session on Thursday, the AfD demanded an immediate end to the lockdown with no ifs or buts.

"Each additional week of lockdown increases the economic, social and human damage and destroys other livelihoods," said AfD parliamentary group leader Georg Pazderski.

Every citizen knows for himself what is best for him and his environment.

"We do not need corona socialism, which always creates new burdens through inability to then redistribute them to everyone."

FDP parliamentary group leader Sebastian Czaja said that in order to come out of the crisis responsibly and with a sense of proportion, new rules and a long-term strategy would have to be found.

"Because a sense of proportion means: Get out of the short-sighted panic mode and move towards more strategic foresight."

Czaja called for a further development of the Berlin Corona traffic light, in order to show, among other things, the development of the tests and the progress of the vaccination.

Decisions about measures should no longer be made in hectic emergency meetings in a non-transparent round of prime ministers.

Rather, there must be a democratic and open debate in parliament beforehand.

CDU parliamentary group leader Burkard Dregger spoke of a crisis of confidence with a view to the fuss about the Easter rest against Corona, initially planned and then canceled by the federal and state governments.

"Many people are insecure and wonder whether their elected representatives have the situation under control."

The CDU parliamentary group has so far largely supported the course of crisis management in Berlin.

This ensures good medical care for infected people, including those who are seriously ill.

The lockdown measures as well as the priority vaccination of particularly vulnerable groups saved human lives.

But: "The price we pay for this course, which is successful in terms of health policy, gets higher and higher the longer it lasts," said Dregger.

"And it is becoming too high for more and more people and companies."

He also sees increasing acceptance problems among many people for the infection protection measures.

Therefore, the testing and vaccination strategy should now make better progress.

Politicians also have to explain the measures better.

An “economic summit” with representatives of Berlin companies is also necessary to discuss the key points of an investment program so that the economy can revive after Corona.
