Schwerin (dpa / mv) - In view of the many corona vaccinations in old people's and nursing homes, Minister of Social Affairs Stefanie Drese (SPD) is planning to gradually relax the visiting and protection regulations.

These should be made starting at Easter, as Drese said on a dpa request.

The number of visits over the Easter days should therefore be limited to the facilities.

The easing should be tied to conditions.

According to Drese, this includes, for example, that the second vaccinations against the coronavirus in the respective facility were more than 14 days ago and there is no infection.

The mandatory tests for visitors and employees should be strictly maintained.

«Since the beginning of the pandemic, residents of senior citizens' and care facilities have been particularly severely affected by infection control measures aimed at restricting contact.

Now that the vaccination campaign is over, we want to enable them to have more social contacts again, ”emphasized Drese.

Thus, from Easter on, more visits to the old people's and nursing homes could be possible again, as well as more group offers for the residents.

In addition, the minister wants to enable the residents to eat their meals together again.

A corresponding concept for the easing is already in place and can be implemented very quickly if the state parliament gives a corresponding signal.

In old people's and nursing homes, the vaccinations against the corona virus began around three months ago.

According to the ministry, second vaccinations have since been offered in almost all facilities.
