Wiesbaden / Darmstadt (dpa / lhe) - In a drug raid in the Rhine-Main area, investigators have seized kilos of hemp flowers.

The plant parts are said to have been sold as flower mixtures and teas, as the State Criminal Police Office in Wiesbaden and the Darmstadt public prosecutor announced on Thursday.

The investigators searched a total of 17 buildings on Wednesday, including seven so-called “cannabidiol (CBD) shops”.

The searches were part of the investigation into six suspected drug dealers.

The 33 to 42-year-old suspects are said to have "sold CBD hemp flowers and CBD hemp products on a large scale that can be abusively consumed and are therefore punishable by law," said the authorities.

However, the accused remained at large.

According to the public prosecutor, all unprocessed cannabis products in Germany, regardless of their active ingredient content (THC), are subject to the prohibition of possession and trade under the Narcotics Act.

Dealing with it is therefore punishable.
