The previous recommendation from the Swedish Public Health Agency regarding distance and distance education will cease to apply from 6 April or 12 April, depending on when the Easter break in the region is.

In Västerbotten, however, the upper secondary schools will not open as usual.

- Every week we have a dialogue with all the county's municipalities and upper secondary schools and adapt the combination of teaching to the prevailing epidemiological situation and the local conditions, says Stephan Stenmark, infection control doctor.

Year three may return to school

In Umeå municipality, they continue with partial distance education up to Valborg.

However, year three of upper secondary school will have to return to teaching in the schools after the Easter break.

- The pandemic situation means that we must continue with partial distance education, within the framework of this, certain adjustments are made which means that the students in year 3 are given local education.

If the infection situation worsens, however, we have a readiness to switch to distance education full-time, says Ann-Christine Gradin, director of education at Umeå municipality.

Infection control believes that the recommendations will differ in the different municipalities in the county.

- The goal is for as much teaching as possible to be at the school.

But there may be a need for continued partial distance learning in several places, says Stephan Stenmark.
