It was on September 17 last year that a 16-year-old boy was shot to death in the district of Nyfors in Eskilstuna.

A boy of the same age was arrested and detained on suspicion of murder and a felony.

The evidence has, among other things, been based on witness statements from minors who were at the scene.

The 17-year-old, who denied the crime, was in custody until the trial.

He was later moved to a Sis home.

So now Eskilstuna District Court has acquitted him both of the suspicions of murder and aggravated weapon crime.

In order to convict someone of a crime, it must be established without reasonable doubt that the person did so.

But the accused 17-year-old's fingerprint or DNA could not be found on the murder weapon and the witnesses who saw the murder had different descriptions of the incident, the district court believes.

It is therefore not possible to say with certainty that it was the 17-year-old, and therefore he is acquitted.
