The European Union took a decision to tighten control over the export of vaccines, amid new efforts to confront the third of the emerging corona virus, while the French News Agency published data on the number of people who received the vaccine around the world.

The European Union has decided to tighten control over the export of coronavirus vaccines from its territory to other countries, especially the United Kingdom.

In a press conference, European Commission Vice President Valdes Dombrowskis said, "The European Union is facing a very serious epidemic situation and continues to export large quantities to countries" that produce their own vaccines or record progress in vaccination campaigns.

The current export supervision mechanism has been tightened to "guarantee" the supplies of the 27 member states.

While these mechanisms excluded dozens of destinations from low-income countries and some neighboring countries to the European Union, these exceptions were generally suspended, except for a handful of very small countries.

The European Union exported about 10 million doses of various vaccines to the United Kingdom between February 1 and mid-March.

In contrast, the consortium has not received any dose produced in Britain, while the contract with AstraZeneca provides for delivery of doses produced by two factories in the United Kingdom.

Elevated injuries

Europe continues to record high infections caused by the Corona virus and its mutants that are considered the most contagious and deadly.

Belgium announced tightening restrictions on shops and schools next week, while Poland recorded a record number of injuries, with about 30,000 cases.

However, the German Chancellor asked her citizens to "forgive" after trying to impose a near-total closure of shops and cancel religious celebrations on the occasion of Easter.

Germany had decided to impose the closure on the occasion of Easter, after heated discussions between the central government and the leaders of the 16 provinces, as Merkel stressed that "the situation is very dangerous."

However, the decision faced sharp criticism from merchants' associations, who feared its economic consequences, and from Christians who were prevented from participating in Easter mass.

Purchase numbers and vouchers

According to data published by Reuters on Wednesday, that the new Corona virus has so far infected more than 124 million people around the world, of whom more than 2.8 million have died, while more than 80 million have recovered, which represents 66% of the total number of infected people.

The French News Agency reported that 479 million doses of anti-corona virus vaccine have been provided in at least 164 countries or regions, based on official sources and data published on Wednesday.

In Daxing - a suburb of Beijing - the authorities launched a campaign offering a purchase voucher to everyone who accepts the vaccine.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Mauritania had received 50,000 doses of the Sinopharm vaccine sent by China, and this is the first batch of vaccine to reach this country.

And other African countries have previously received such batches from China, in an embodiment of Beijing's vaccine diplomacy.

It is noteworthy that the Corona virus appeared for the first time in the Chinese city of Wuhan in late 2019, and soon it turned into a global epidemic.
