Berlin (dpa / bb) - A 68-year-old has been sentenced to five years and one month in prison for inciting serious sexual abuse of children.

The man sought contact with Filipino women and got three mothers to make child pornography recordings of their daughters and make them available to him, the Berlin district court said on Wednesday.

The defendant had "ordered what he wanted to consume" for money.

In doing so, he took advantage of the prosperity gap.

The man was also convicted of procuring and possessing child pornography.

For several years, the 68-year-old had "specifically sought contact with single women with female children in the Philippines who were in financial difficulties," the indictment said.

Three chat partners had sent him child pornographic pictures and videos of their little daughters between June 2018 and January 2020.

Seven girls who were two to twelve years old at the time are affected.

The man offered money and linked payments with the request that recordings of the children in sexualized poses be made and sent to him, according to the court.

He took advantage of the families' economic situation.

"They were children who grew up in corrugated iron huts."

The defendant was not concerned with financial help, "but with money for videos".

According to the indictment, he had sent 50 and 100 euros to the mothers.

During searches in his apartment in Berlin-Wilmersdorf, thousands of child and youth pornographic files were found.

The man with a criminal record for possession of child pornography was arrested at the end of 2020 and has been in custody ever since.

The prosecutor had asked for five and a half years in prison.

The defense attorney made no specific request.

The verdict is not yet legally binding.
