Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The SPD opposition in North Rhine-Westphalia is calling for corona tests also for daycare children.

The third wave of infections is also affecting the little ones in society more and more, said SPD parliamentary group leader Thomas Kutschaty on Wednesday in the Düsseldorf state parliament.

"Many small children suffer from the long-term effects of Corona."

Nevertheless, no tests for daycare centers have apparently been purchased.

"Do something so that our children can be better protected," he appealed to the state government.

Kutschaty also called for a test strategy for the approximately 340,000 state employees.

Nationwide, it must be made a requirement that employers ensure that tests are binding for their employees, instead of sticking to appeals.

"It doesn't happen by itself," said the SPD politician.
