Malsch (dpa / lsw) - After a fire in an apartment building, a man was arrested in Malsch (Karlsruhe district) on suspicion of arson.
The fire broke out in the apartment building on Tuesday evening and spread to the top floor.
The fire brigade was on site with around 90 emergency services.
The 27 residents of the house were brought to safety.
The fire was believed to have been started by an 88-year-old resident, the police said.
The man's 57-year-old daughter and her husband were slightly injured in the flames.
The 88-year-old drove away in a car after the fire broke out, but was arrested by the police a little later.
Exact details of the course of events were initially not known.
The police have taken over the investigation.
