A sacred discovery.
Inspectors sent by the Italian government to a factory working for AstraZeneca have discovered 29 million doses of vaccine against Covid-19, reports Europe 1.
Who are they intended for?
Was any part intended for export, particularly to the United Kingdom?
This is the question that the European Commission is looking into, which triggered this request for an inspection of the Anagni factory, 70 km from Rome.
AstraZeneca has only delivered a third of the 90 million doses planned for the EU.
For its part, the Elysee sent this Wednesday morning to the office of the Minister Delegate in charge of Industry Agnès Pannier-Runacher to check whether these 29 million doses are still on Italian soil.
"Obviously Paris wants these doses to be intended for the European market," said the Elysee.
At the end of February, Italy had already refused the export of 250,700 doses of this vaccine to Australia, in application of a control mechanism put in place by Brussels.
Ursula von der Leyen on Saturday threatened to block exports if the EU did not receive its deliveries first.
