Andy Murray withdrew Tuesday for the tournament in Miami (March 24 - April 4), for which he had obtained an invitation, due to a groin injury.

The 33-year-old Scotsman woke up on Saturday with pain of undetermined origin that makes it difficult even to walk.

"I have no idea what happened to me. It has improved day by day but not enough. I have not trained since Friday," said the three-time Grand Slam winner, who fell to the 119th place in the world following several injuries.

Absent from the Australian Open, Murray has only played three main circuit matches this year, only one of which won.

He has just reached the final of the Challenger tournament (2nd division) in Biella, Italy, where he lost to the Ukrainian Illya Marchenko (212th worldwide).
