Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Saxony-Anhalt wants to strictly implement the corona rules agreed by the federal and state governments for the Easter days and the weeks thereafter.

"We want to aggressively practice the nationwide agreed regulation of the so-called Easter rest", said Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (CDU) on Tuesday after a meeting of the state government.

Mobility, economy and working life should be reduced as far as possible in the five days from Maundy Thursday to Easter Monday, said Haseloff.

The head of the Magdeburg Kenya coalition said the infection process should be calmed down throughout Germany.

For the implementation of the "Easter rest", the federal government should now work out a model ordinance for all states.

The federal and state governments agreed on how to proceed with the pandemic in a meeting lasting more than ten hours on Tuesday night.

Instead of easing the travel rules for Easter, which Saxony-Anhalt had called for, among other things, the group agreed on a tightened lockdown over the Easter days.

In principle, the lockdown is also to be extended until at least April 18.

The current corona rules expire on Sunday, they are to be replaced by a new regulation that the cabinet wants to have worked out and approved by Friday.

The state government does not want to make use of the possibility of extensive exit restrictions anchored in the federal-state agreement.

"There will be no nationwide curfews," said Haseloff.

Those who were particularly hard hit by the pandemic could, if necessary, impose appropriate exit restrictions.
