Kiel (dpa / lno) - Schleswig-Holstein's state parliament will make a clear commitment against racism this Thursday.

The Jamaica parliamentary groups of the CDU, Greens and FDP have now also submitted an application for this.

"The state parliament states that racism must have no place in our society," it says.

Unfortunately, the reality shows something else.

"That is why it is necessary for parliament and the state government to name clear measures and recommendations for action in the areas of education, society, social affairs and domestic and legal policy that are necessary to combat racism."

The SPD has also already submitted an application on the subject.

It calls on the state government to consistently fight all forms of racism.

According to the Greens, the state government will finally adopt an action plan against racism, which the government factions had agreed in the coalition agreement, in April / May.

"All areas are affected: education, domestic politics, justice, culture, civil society, public service and much more," said State Parliament Vice President Aminata Touré.

There will be training and further education measures for the public service and, above all, for teachers.

In general, anti-racism work is being strengthened in the country.

With the action plan, the state government proposes, among other things, to replace the term “race”, to develop guidelines for language critical of racism and discrimination in the public service, and to strengthen counseling for victims of racist violence.

In addition, colonialism is to be further processed and racism prevention is to be promoted in daycare centers and schools.
