“Secretary of State Blinken stressed the US commitment to working with allies and partners to counter Russia's attempts to undermine our collective security and in this vein highlighted the fact that the United States opposes the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline,” the State Department’s press service said.

Earlier, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, announced the presence of supporters of Nord Stream 2 in NATO.

According to him, the organization was unable to work out a common position on the project.

Bloomberg also reported that the administration of US President Joe Biden is considering the possibility of introducing additional sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
